This was a pretty tricky photoshop job! The chosen design is the one on the right. The horses and the knights were each made up of multiple images - I wanted the WW1 horse and rider to be exactly the same shape as the medieval horse and rider, so I used the medieval horse as a base, gave him a rider, then changed all the riders' clothes using individual photos of WW1 helmets, jackets, trousers and boots. A complicated job, but I got the desired effect in the end!
